Dear Post 283 Ronald Reagan Palisades Post American Legion Family, thank you to those who came to help.
As we reflect on the success of our L.A. Fleet Week activation and Memorial Day “Honor Walk,” I am filled with pride and gratitude for our Legion Family members. Welcoming 50 uniformed sailors and garnering 366 new membership applications made it a weekend of remembrance and purpose. Under Commander Jim Cragg's leadership, we've championed innovation and community engagement. With Joe Ramirez as our new commander, we aim to continue this momentum with future gaming activations at conventions, Game Days with the LA Air Force Base, San Diego Fleet Week, and quarterly online tournaments. These efforts will enhance our mission to support all veterans, honoring our tradition while embracing growth and transition.
During L.A. Fleet Week, American Legion Post 283 prominently featured gaming stations alongside the USS Carl Vinson to connect with active-duty sailors and veterans, fostering community and engagement.
On Memorial Day, many wear red poppies to honor those who gave their lives in service of our country, a tradition inspired by Poet Moina Michael’s 1918 poem "We Shall Keep the Faith.” To honor their memory, live, love and be the best American you can be.
