The American Legion Stands With the Palisades Community
Pacific Palisades, CA – In the aftermath of the devastating Palisades Fire, The American Legion, Ronald Reagan-Palisades Post 283 building stands as one of the few structures in the Palisades Village to emerge physically unharmed.
“I think when it comes to a situation or crisis or event like this, I think this is when the veterans really, really step up,” said Post 283 Commander Joe Ramirez.
While the flames spared the Post, the impact of smoke damage and the air quality inside the building remain under evaluation.
Post 283 is working closely with the city to restore power to the facility, a critical step toward reopening its doors to the community. Additionally, plans are underway to bring in professional cleaning crews to ensure that the air and overall environment within the building are safe for use.
Once cleared for occupancy, Post 283 will serve as a vital hub for residents seeking assistance and a safe, reliable space to regroup as they begin the process of salvaging their belongings and planning their recovery.
Post 283 plans to provide resources such as:
A physical space for residents to gather, charge devices, and access utilities.
Support for residents coordinating with insurance companies and city services.
Facilities to host community meetings and provide updates from local officials.
As the Post works to make the building safe and operational, it also invites community members to stay informed through regular updates on the Post’s website and social media channels. Together, the Pacific Palisades community and Post 283 will rise from the challenges posed by the fire and begin the process of recovery.
