Month in Review: Summer Dance; July Fourth; Lounge Night; Safety Fair

June and July (so far) turned out to be excellent months for Palisades Post 283 as our activities and initiatives really picked up pace. During these summer months, our members were driven by a renewed commitment to our mission, and our efforts were richly rewarded through increased engagement and growth.

We were delighted to be able to host several events that not only brought our members closer together but also provided a platform for sharing the values and principles of The American Legion with the broader community.

Swing Into Summer Dance

Post 283 hosted a dance we dubbed “Swing Into Summer,” which included dinner and a DJ playing a range of music spanning generations and genres.

Safety Fair

Palisades Post 283 participated in the June 10 Community Safety Fair put on by Los Angeles City Councilwoman Traci Park. We offered a presence to let the community know about the skills and resources veterans and The American Legion can offer.

Lounge Night

June’s Lounge Night, the third in a monthly series, proved to be more popular than the previous events. Our 3rd vice commander, Richard Lombari cooked up some barbecue pork sliders. Be sure to join us Thursday, July 27 for our next Lounge Night, when our 1st vice commander, Joe Ramirez, will be cooking up his very special recipe for chicken wings.

Fourth of July Parade & BBQ

Palisades Post 283 was well represented at the Palisades Fourth of July Parade, which The American Legion originally started some 75 years ago.
