PALISADES RECOVERY
As the Pacific Palisades seeks to rebuild, we stand with our community during these challenging times. Post 283 is here to provide support, resources, and information for those impacted by the devastating Palisades Fire. Whether you need financial assistance, recovery guidance, or a place to regroup, our doors are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Financial Support: We’re Here to Help Our Members
Post 283 Legion Family Fire Reimbursement: Post 283’s grant reimburses Post 283’s Legionnaires, Sons and Auxiliary members up to $2,000 for expenses directly related to the Palisades Fire, requiring receipts. It aims to help cover essential costs, such as lodging, repairs, and other documented needs.
California American Legion Disaster Emergency Fund: The CA–DES Grant provides quick aid (up to $1,000 for Legionnaires, $500 for Sons and Auxiliary) for those impacted by declared disasters, covering essential costs like lodging, food, or clothing. Applicants must submit proof of hardship for final approval.
American Legion National Emergency Fund: The NEF grant offers up to $3,000 for immediate aid to current Legion or SAL members displaced by a declared natural disaster. It covers out-of-pocket costs for food, clothing, and shelter, excluding items covered by insurance or non-residential losses. An instructional video can be found here
American Legion Auxiliary Emergency Fund: The Auxiliary Emergency Fund (AEF) is a national grant assistance program that provides financial assistance to eligible members of the American Legion Auxiliary who have endured a significant financial setback as the result of an act of nature or other personal crisis.
Federal Disaster Assistance: For those who need it, help is available to navigate the FEMA disaster assistance application process and discover additional recovery resources. Guidance is provided on eligibility, meeting deadlines, and submitting the proper documentation, ensuring that every step is clear. Beyond FEMA, support from community agencies, nonprofits, and volunteer organizations can also help address immediate needs and long-term rebuilding efforts.
Red Cross Relief: Financial assistance may be available to you if your address qualifies. If you live within fire boundaries of Eaton, Palisades, Hurst, or Kenneth, please register below. The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services has designated the boundaries of fires.
Support Those Displaced by the Palisades Fire
To Donate: We’ve received many offers of donations from individuals and other organizations offering to collect donations on our behalf. Most of our members who lived in the Palisades lost everything, including their homes. We thank you.
To Volunteer: We’re thankful for the many offers of support and would like to ask that you sign up for our newsletter to stay informed about upcoming opportunities to help: post283.com/volunteers

FIRE RECOVERY NEEDS ASSESSMENT SURVEY
We understand that this is a challenging time, and our goal is to provide the most effective and meaningful support possible. This survey is designed to help us understand your specific needs so we can connect you with the right resources and assistance as quickly as possible.
AERIAL PHOTO/VIDEO REQUEST
We are deeply sorry for the loss and damage you have experienced. We are here to help document the fire damage to your home in Pacific Palisades using drone footage. Once air restrictions are lifted, we can capture an aerial photo and a short video of your property. The files will be manageable in size.
