Over the Marine Corps Birthday and Veterans Day Weekend, American Legion Gaming (ALG) created a unique experience for service members at San Diego’s Fleet Week celebration on Broadway Pier. ALG, backed by American Legion Ronald Reagan-Palisades Post 283, set up a video game lounge on the pier, giving service members a place to relax and recharge while taking breaks during the busy weekend.

The lounge quickly became a popular stop for those service members working at the event, either giving ship tours or offering photo opportunities in the static military vehicle displays, especially as the Navy's USS Germantown and a Coast Guard vessel were docked nearby, attracting a large crowd of both military personnel and visitors. Service members from different branches, including Marines, Navy sailors, and Coast Guard members, took the opportunity to unwind with gaming consoles and comfortable seating, allowing for a change of pace from their usual routines and Fleet Week duties.

By bringing in gaming, ALG aimed to provide a familiar and enjoyable space for service members, reflecting its mission to support and connect veterans and active-duty personnel. The video game lounge offered a selection of games, ensuring something for everyone—whether it was a fast-paced action title or a cooperative multiplayer game. The activation drew positive feedback, as it not only served as a relaxation point but also as a hub for camaraderie and connection among different branches.
